‘Game of Thrones’ Oreos hitting stores today

Diabetes is coming.

Today is the day that Nabisco is releasing its special, limited-edition, “Game of Thrones”-themed Oreo Cookies. Now, these treats are the basic chocolate cookie with white filling like the classic Oreo but what sets them apart are the designs they sport. Three of them feature the sigils of the three great houses — the Lannisters (a lion), the Starks (direwolf) and the Targaryens (three-headed dragon) — competing for the Iron Throne. The fourth features the Night King, lord of the White Walkers.

The packaging too is unique with a dark background featuring the names of the houses and an Iron Throne with an Oreo sitting on it. (The cookie would probably be a better king than King Joffrey but I digress.)

HBO and Nabisco even have turned out a special video promotion featuring the “Game of Thrones” opening credit sequence with cookies.

Oreos are not the only products with a “Game of Thrones” tie-in. Ommegang Brewery has an entire line of “GoT” branded brews including the new For the Throne, Adidas has a line of sneakers, and Mountain Dew has a “GoT” can imprinted with Arya Stark’s kill list.

“Game of Thrones” returns on HBO for its eighth and final season on Sunday at 8 p.m.
